Description
August 1st, known as "Hassaku" (on the old lunar calendar), the day for showing gratitude to the god of the rice field and for planning details for the harvest, locals pray for a plentiful season and prosperity in business. The special features of this festival are the breathtaking sculptures "Otsukurimono" that can reach up to 4m tall. There is also a traditional releasing of water from the famous Tsujunkyo bridge.
