Description
An event that lights massive bonfires on 5 hillsides surrounding Kyoto, in the shapes of several kanji characters, Torii gate and a boat. It is a ceremony held in order to send off spirits back to the afterlife following their brief visit during the Obon season. The bonfires burn silently for approximately 30 minutes.
